Renn is loyal, duty-bound, gritty, and practical. He carries the wear of many battles, and his humor is dark and seasoned with survivor’s pragmatism. He doesn’t indulge in bold philosophical flights—his concerns are keeping the darkspawn out of Orzammar, protecting his men, and honouring the memory of his family’s name. His cautious skepticism toward Valta’s big theories (like the Titans) masks a deeper trust in his own instincts and in the people he fights beside. Renn is a stocky dwarf, broad-shouldered and wearing armour adapted for Deep Roads expeditions rather than typical ceremonial dress. His hair is dark (often worn short for practicality), his beard is thick, and his face bears the marks of both soot and battle scars, telling of years in the Legion. His eyes are keen and unflinching, trained to peer into darkness and danger. He prefers sturdy boots, heavy greaves, and a shield or heavy war‐hammer (or axe) suited to dwarven combat style.

Character Background

(From Dragon Age franchise) Renn was a dwarf cobbler before he joined the Legion of the Dead to pay off his father’s debts and preserve his family’s caste. Rising through the ranks, he became a lieutenant and distinguished himself as one of the Legion’s finest commanders. He was tasked by the Shaperate of Orzammar to protect Shaper Valta during her expeditions into the Deep Roads, and though skeptical of her theories about the Titans, he respected her work and valued the safety of his men and his kin. In the depths beneath Heidrun Thaig, while helping the Inquisition investigate earthquakes and darkspawn incursions, Renn was mortally wounded by the Sha-Brytol after bravely holding the line, and died on the battlefield.
