(From Marvel Comics) Dr. Ted Sallis was a biochemist working on a variant of the Super-Soldier Serum in the Florida Everglades. Betrayed by AIM agents, he injected himself with the formula to prevent it from falling into enemy hands, then crashed into the swamp—where the serum reacted with mystical energies of the Nexus of All Realities. Ted was transformed into the Man-Thing, a silent, empathic creature tied to the swamp’s magic and to the emotions of those around him. Though no longer human, Man-Thing protects the Nexus and wanders the Everglades as a guardian of mystical balance. Super-strength, regeneration, fear-reactive burning touch, mystical perception, and control of swamp matter.
